Ananta Industries is the pioneer manufacturers of Silica Gel in India. Manufacturing of Silica Gel was started by us for the first time in our country.

We manufacture all varieties of Silica Gel according to latest specification of ISI and Defence. We are registered with D.G.S. & D., New Delhi. ( N. S. I. C. Ltd., New Delhi) as a small scale industry and we have executed many tenders for Silika Gel issued by D.G.S. & D., New Delhi, D.S & d, Kanpur, India Navy, Bombay and Vishakhapatnam during last thirty years. We are also registered with various State Electricity Boards in India, various Industrial Projects and Government undertakings and we have repeatedly supplied Silica Gel to them. We have received excellent test certificates from them for our unique product. Our Chief Executive, Prof. G. K. Vasha, was appointed as a member to ISI Adsorbants and Desiccants subcommittee, C D C 3:13 for drawing specification IS : 3401 : 1970 for Silica Gel.

Year Of Establishment : 1958
Primary Business Type : Manufacturer & Exporter

Products
We manufacture all varieties of Silica Gel according to latest specification of I S I and Defence. These are available in following categories:-

  • Blue Silica Gel (Indicator Type)
  • White Silica Gel (Without Indicator)
  • Mixed Silica Gel.

All the above varieties of Silica Gel have an absorption efficiency of about 65% under 100% Relative Humidity and 20°C temperature when Silica Gel is in equilibrium with the surrounding atmosphere.

Absorption efficiency increases under higher humidity, higher pressure and lower temperature. It decreases in lower humidity, lower pressure and higher temperature. It can be regenerated by preliminary sun drying and heating in an oven to a temperature of 150°C. It should not be heated to a temperature above 250°C, as at this stage Silica Gel loses all the water of combination and consequently loses all the properties of absorption once for all.

Mesh Size: All the above varieties are supplied in various Mesh sizes such as Bumper Size (15 mm-30 mm approximately), Extra Size (10 mm-20 mm), Over Size (6 mm-20 mm), Supersize (6 mm-12 mm), Regular Size (3 mm-8 mm), Medium Size (1.5 mm-3 mm), Normal Size (.25 mm to 3 mm) and fines ( particles below .5 mm).

It is advisable to inform us about the exact purpose for which the Silica Gel is to be used so that we can select the necessary type and mesh size of Silica Gel. When Silica Gel is to be used in column on sieves to pass gases for drying, bigger grains should be preferred. But, for all other cases of dehumidification finer particles should be preferred. Absorption is a surface phenomena and smaller particles have greater absorption efficiency than the bigger particles due to extra exposed surfaces obtained by disintigration of particles.

    Packing
Silica Gel is packed in bulk and small packing. In bulk packing, Silica Gel is packed in 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12, 12.5 or 13 kg. air tight tins properly soldered with double lids to avoid entry of moisture during storage. Two such tins are packed in a wooden case for safe transit.

In small packing, it is supplied in sealed polythene bags of 250 gms, 500 gms, 1 kg, or in 2.5 or 5 kg. tins. Sealed polythene bags are further packed in wooden cases of suitable size for safe transit. Tins are costly, so bulk packing should be preferred to 2.5 or 5 Kg tins.

    Pore Sizes
Pore Size of Silica gel has an important effect on the property of Silica Gel. According to Pore Size, Silica Gel can be graded in two types :

  • Silica Gel Type 'A': Narrow pore Silica Gel: Microporous: This has higher bulk density 0.6 to 0.65. This is of compact nature and PA Grade Silica Gel is of this type. This is used when gases at high pressure to be passed through a layer or column of Silica Gel for drying moisture, condensable vapours, acetylene and other hydro carbons, CO2 and other gases in gas plants. This is more effective under low Relative Humidity.

  • Silica Gel Type ' B' : Wide pore Silica Gel: Macroporous: This has bulk density of 0.5. This is comparatively soft but it has higher absorption efficiency under higher relative humidity.

All the above types of Silica Gel are supplied in different mesh sizes mentioned previously.

    Quality Control
As mentioned above we have supplied Silica Gel against various tenders issued by D. G. S. & D., New Delhi. In every case, samples are drawn by an authorised Inspector of D. G. S. & D, and test samples are sent to IGS Lab. If all the samples are according to specification control, samples are drawn again by another Inspector and sent to C. I. M. Kanpur for confirmation. We have the honour to state that our material was always accepted. We have qualified batch of scientists who supervise the quality of Silica Gel during various stages of manufacture.

    Silica Gel Powder
In normal cases Silica Gel Powder (30 to 60 Mesh) should always be preferred.

  • PA GRADE:(Preattritated Silica Gel) Normal types of Silica Gel mentioned above are comparatively soft because of Superporous Structure. P A Grade Silica Gel is a specially manufactured variety obtained after continuous attrition and is of tough nature. It is very hard and can be used in Oxygen and other Gas Plants under high pressure and low temperature to remove acetylene and other Hydro Carbons. It is supplied as white, or mixed variety in the mesh range of higher size particles mentioned above. It can be regenerated by blowing hot gases at 150 °C and it can be used repeatedly.

  • CHROMATOGRAPHIC SILICA GEL: (100 to 200 Mesh). This is used in Science Colleges, Research Institutions and Pharmaceutical concerns for thin layer and column chromatography, It is supplied in small packing only in 1 Kg Tin or 500 gram Polythene bags. It is supplied with or without binder.

  • SILICA GEL IN FABRIC BAGS: We supply Silica Gel in fabric bags of different sizes such as 4.5 Kg., 500 Gms., 250 Gms.,' 1 00 Gms., 50 Gms., and 25 Gms. Cloth bags contcnning about 8 Kgs. Silica Gel of normal mesh are packed in sound metallic containers properly soldered with double lids to avoid entry of moisture during storage. They are also packed in sealed Polythene bags when the weight of Desiccant Bags is less such as 0.5, 1,2, or 5 grams.

These fabric bags can be used in packing cases containing machinery for export, Silica Gel prevents the machinery from any adverse effect of moisture during the long sea journey.
